ERICA’S MUSIC STUDIO POLICY AGREEMENT for INTRO PIANO CLASS
Welcome to my studio! I will do my best to guide your musical development with expertise, knowledge, patience, inspiration, and a sense of fun.
This class will cover some beginning piano basic concepts normally taught in the first weeks of private lessons, in a small group setting (2-3 students). We will play games, look inside the piano to see how it works, get familiar with the piano keyboard, and do some hands-on playing. Concepts include right/left hand, finger numbers, identifying groups of 2 and 3 black keys, high/low, some rhythmic notation, and good hand position/posture. If we’re all on track we will learn to play a simple song or two by the end of the class.
This class is different from private lessons: a piano at home for daily practice is not required (although students may want to try out the concepts on a keyboard in between classes if you do have one!). This class will hopefully give you an idea of what learning to play the piano might be like if you’re deciding whether to pursue private piano lessons. And it may also just be a fun class to enjoy learning a little about music and the piano.
Fees: $110 (5 classes @ $20/class plus $10 materials fee)
Payment is due at the first class session. Cash, check, or Venmo/Zelle/Paypal are accepted.
Schedule:
The class will meet for five Wednesday night sessions, July 27-Aug 24, (with Aug 31 as a makeup day in case we need to cancel for multiple students being sick/absent), 7:00pm – about 7:40pm. (I may adjust ending time depending on attention spans, etc. after the first class.)
Please let me know in advance if you have vacations or other planned absences.
If you need to miss because of illness or other emergency, please let me know as soon as you can.
Covid-19 Safety:
Masks are optional, vaccinations are strongly encouraged. Generally I will follow the lead of my students; if you wear a mask, I’ll wear mine too. Wash or sanitize hands upon arrival. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned between lessons, to include doorknobs, piano keyboard and bench.
First Class Meeting:
Parking is on the street in front. Please follow the sidewalk around the right side of the house to the Studio Entrance. Parents are welcome to wait in the back yard garden if weather is nice, or inside if it’s not. I look forward to seeing you!
