Olympia Symphony Orchestra will present LIFT, a jazz-infused program on Sunday Oct. 11 at 3pm at the Washington Center for Performing Arts, to include George Gershwin’s classic Rhapsody in Blue, featuring piano soloist Calder Failla.

The full program of all American music is:

Jessie MONTGOMERY: Banner

Wynton MARSALIS: Blues Symphony (Mvt. 3, 4 & 5)

George GERSHWIN: Rhapsody in Blue

George GERSHWIN: Catfish Row from Porgy and Bess

James P. JOHNSON: Victory Stride

I’m counting my syncopated rhythms like crazy practicing for this concert! It promises to be fun and exciting – with saxophones, strings, stride piano and Alexandra Arrieche conducting.
